REDDING, Shasta County — November 4, 2026. Russ Wenham led the first reported election-night vote for Redding City Council, followed by Tenessa Audette and Mark Mezzano. The initial figures are far from final: at the time of publication, ballots cast at precincts on Election Day had not yet entered the report.
First reported candidate shares
In a Shasta Scout report updated at 10:18 p.m. on November 3, Wenham had 22.01% of the candidate votes reported, Audette 19.25% and Mezzano 14.3%. Shasta Scout described just under 33,000 votes cast in the contest’s first reported batch. These percentages are not final election outcomes or a measure of turnout by all registered voters.
Why the standings may change
The first batch included ballots cast before Election Day and did not yet include Election Day precinct ballots. Additional timely mail ballots and provisional votes also require processing during the canvass. Residents should watch for newer county releases rather than treating a first-batch lead as election of an individual candidate.
What the council decides
Redding councilmembers make decisions about municipal spending, neighborhood projects, public safety and local infrastructure. The election concerns council representation, not a direct election of a separate mayor in this report.
